Standard of the President of the Russian Federation
The Standard of the President of the Russian Federation, a symbol of the presidential power, was formalised by President Boris Yeltsin of the Russian Federation on February 15, 1994.
It is a quadrangular piece of bunting consisting of three equivalent horizontal stripes of the color of the National Flag - white, blue, and red - with the gold National Coat of Arms of Russia, the two-headed eagle, in the center.
The bunting is bordered with the gold fringe. The staff has a tip in the shape of a metallic spear. A silver bracket fixed to the staff has the President's surname, name and patronymic as well as the dates of his presidency engraved on it.
A duplicate standard is hoisted above the dome of the President's Kremlin residence, whereas the standard itself is permanently in the President's office, on the left behind his desk.
The standard normally follows the President: it is placed in the presidential plane and the presidential automobile, in rooms during important functions attended by the President, and is flown by naval ships and merchant vessels if and when the President visits them.
