Trade Unions
Trade unions are voluntary organizations that unite working people for the purpose of defending social and economic rights and interests of their members. The legal status of Russian trade unions is defined in the Russian Constitution, the Labor Code as well as other laws, legal acts and employment agreements. Under article 30 of the Russian Constitution, trade union membership is voluntary. Trade unions operate in accordance with their charters which are not subject to registration with state bodies.

Russia's biggest trade union associations are: the Russian Federation of Independent Trade Unions(FNPR), the Confederation of Russian Labor(KTR) and the All-Russian Confederation of Labor (VKT).
